A Lazy Girl’s Nightly Skincare Routine

skinskin

Okay, okay… I’ll admit it. When it comes to skincare, particularly in the evenings, I am incredibly lazy. Going from a 9-5 job to an evening job, then finally going home to have a late dinner, clean up the house, and prep for the next morning, the very last thing I want to do is spend 15+ minutes using ten different products on my face. I’m sure there are tons of you who can relate!

But skincare is really important to me! You get one face and you wear it everywhere you go for your entire life, so it only makes sense to take care of it, right? Right. So when it comes to skincare products, I’m picky. I need products that serve more than one purpose because well… I’m lazy and using one product that only benefits my skin in one way just sounds like a waste of time. Leave it to your grade A lazy girl to come up with a foolproof way to take good care of your skin without exerting too much energy at the end of a long day.

Step 1: Remove Makeup – Rodan + Fields Redefine Eye Cloths

Some days I hardly wear any makeup and other days, I go full-on glam. Either way, I can count on these babies to get the job done with no fuss. One cloth removes all my makeup, even on my most cake-faced days (waterproof mascara and all!). I’ve tried lots of other makeup removing cloths in the past and some left a sticky, stinky film on my skin which made me feel like I had to rinse my face before bed after using them (totally defeats the purpose in my opinion), but these aren’t like that! Looooove these guys! The best part about these is that they have anti-aging peptides in them. So even though I’m being lazy, I’m actually doing double duty!

Step 2: Moisturize – Rodan + Fields Redefine Overnight Restorative Cream

Okay, first of all, this stuff smells soooo nice and clean which is exactly the kind of thing I want going on my face right before I hit the hay. A little bit goes a long way, which is awesome for your wallet’s sake. This moisturizer goes on nice and smooth and it feels really hydrating right away. When I wake up in the morning, it’s fully absorbed into my skin and my skin looks fresh and hydrated. Even after I wash my face in the A.M., the moisture doesn’t go away. This cream has a ton of anti-aging ingredients in it, so you’ll probably notice that fine lines and wrinkles will start to disappear as you use this stuff. My forehead wrinkles are much less defined than they were before I started using the R+F Redefine products and I couldn’t be happier about that!

Step 3: Bye, Bye, Bags! – Rodan + Fields Multi-Function Eye Cream (a.k.a. Eye Crack)

Pretty sure I prayed to thank God for this incredible invention after I first used it. Yes, you will be addicted to using this stuff once you try it out, just take my word for it. This is one of the first skincare products I ever tried that gave me actual visual results. Because let’s face it, not only am I interested in preserving my skin, but I have a few things I’d like to improve about my skin and well, this eye cream does just that. Say goodbye to under-eye bags, dark circles, and crow’s feet. Working two jobs and running an at-home business, sleep is usually the last think on my mind throughout the week. I used to hate when people would look at me and say “Wow, you look exhausted” or “Are you feeling ok? You don’t look so good.” Thanks to this stuff, my exhaustion doesn’t show on my face anymore. (Well, at least not through my eyes. I have yet to find a skincare product that takes care of my sleep deprived RBF). I use this at night and in the morning because it’s hydrating and moisturizing enough for nighttime repair, but it’s not heavy or greasy, so I’m able to apply my makeup right over it in the morning without it causing any break-up or patchiness in my foundation, concealer, powder, etc. Oh, and did I mention that this product also has anti-aging ingredients? Hallelujah!

And that’s it! Skincare complete. Yes, just 3 steps and I’m done for the night.

This entire routine takes about 4 minutes, 5 tops if I have a ton of makeup to remove that day. Four minutes to remove my makeup, moisturize, prevent dark circles and bags under my eyes, AND fight the signs of aging… I can handle that even on my laziest nights.

Some things I should mention:

  • I do this routine 4-5 nights a week. The rest of the time, I go through a full regime of washing my face, then using toner, treatment, and moisturizer.
  • My skin is normal to combination and it’s not particularly problematic or sensitive.
  • I am a consultant for Rodan + Fields. However, even if I wasn’t, I would use these products because I have personally had great results while using them and I stand behind them 100%.
  • This post is in no way sponsored by or affiliated with Rodan + Fields. These are the products I personally use with an honest account of what I like about them and what they’ve done for my skin.
  • Rodan + Fields products can only be purchased through a consultant, so if you’re interested in trying these products or seeing what other products are available, please send me an email at emcala08@gmail.com.

Gift Guide for the Sephora Lover

gift-guide

Husbands, boyfriends, dads, and friends of all Sephora lovers… this one’s for you!

To makeup lovers, Sephora is like Candyland… seriously! I get all jittery and starry-eyed just thinking about it! Personally, I could live there happily for the rest of my life and never have to leave (I recognize this is probably an issue… not quite concerned enough to do anything about it…). But to most men and non-makeup lovers, shopping in Sephora can be scary, confusing and downright intimidating.

If you have a beauty lover in your life and you’re not quite sure to get her for the holidays, rest assured! I’ve come up with a list of things most beauty lovers would love to open up on Christmas morning. Even if you barely know the difference between foundation and lip gloss, you can use this guide, no problem! I’ve got specific links below that you can use to order these gifts online. (You heard that right – no scary trip into Sephora!) I’ve included some gift ideas for nearly every budget, so you’re sure to find something for your beauty! So without further ado, here is my Gift Guide for the Sephora Lover…

  1. Tangle Teezer – $15.00– This thing is awesome. Just take my word for it. You can use this on wet or dry hair and it doesn’t pull or yank, but it still manages to get out all the tangles and makes your hair feel super silky smooth. It comes in a few different colors (and they’re all adorable so you really can’t go wrong). The original Tangle Teezer is for most hair types, but there is also one available for curly/thick hair. This would make an awesome stocking stuffer, too!tan.jpg          The Original Tangle Teezer            Thick and Curly Tangle Teezer

2. beautyblender & mini blendercleanser – $25.00 – Your beauty lover is probably already using one of these (or wishing she was) and if she’s not… well, she needs to be! You might be wondering if a sponge is really worth $20.00. My answer to you: Yes. Truth is, this thing is awesome for applying foundation, concealer, cream blushes and bronzers, setting powders, and pretty much everything else. Best part is, even if your beauty already has one (or 10) of these, she can always use another one. They have to be replaced often because of bacteria build up, so it’s awesome that this combo pack comes with a mini solid cleanser. You can’t go wrong with this set!bb.jpg         beautyblender & mini blendercleanser combo        beautyblender only ($20.00)

3. Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Ultimate Glow’ Glow Kit – $45.00 – Highlighting is one of the hottest makeup trends right about now and there are so many highlighting products out on the market! This palette has highlighter shades for a huge range of skin tones and when it comes to quality, ABH is wayyyyy up there on the list. I personally think you cannot go wrong with this palette. Give your beauty the gift of glow this Christmas. She will love it!glow.jpg                                      Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Ultimate Glow’ Glow Kit

4. tarte Pretty Paintbox Collector’s Makeup Case – $59.00 – This makeup set has a little bit of everything! Plus it’s a collector’s set, so the packaging is gorgeous. tarte is such a good brand – I’ve never tried a product from tarte that I didn’t like! This is over $400 worth of makeup for just $59! Such a steal! (Secretly hoping this is under my Christmas tree!)tarte.jpg                                        tarte Pretty Paintbox Collector’s Makeup Case

5. Clarisonic Mia 2 – $169.00 – This is a 2-speed oscillating facial cleansing brush that unclogs pores and removes makeup, dirt, and oil without irritating the skin. The best part is that your beauty can use this baby with her favorite facial cleanser and it will clean, exfoliate, and clarify her skin. It’s like an at-home facial machine right from the spa. She will definitely thank you for this one! clarisonic.jpg                                                                  Clarisonic Mia 2
